RTA Cabinets

Flat pack furniture is a relatively new concept in design, only having been around since the 1950's. It was accredited to Gillis Lundgren who, when confronted with the impossible task of trying to fit a large table he had just purchased into his car, proceeded to saw the legs off, only to refit them when he got home. Realizing that he might be on to something, he then proceeded to tell his employers (the furniture giants IKEA) and so..... Flat pack or RTA (ready to assemble) furniture was born. Nowadays all types of furniture comes ready to assemble, however the latest trend is rta cabinets for your kitchen. So why are ready to assemble kitchen cabinets all the rage?

The answer is simple.... cost, convenience and choice.

You see, if you really want that dream kitchen, but are lacking the huge budget often associated with such a project, then you might want to consider going down the ready to assemble route. By opting to “do it yourself” you will avoid incurring the cost of a kitchen fitter and therefore you will have that little bit more money to spend on your kitchen. RTA cabinets are easy to assemble, often needing nothing more than a screwdriver and a little time to get the job done.

Cheap kitchen cabinets do not necessarily mean cheap materials, as you can purchase rta cabinets of real quality. Often being made with hard wearing durable woods such as Oak, Cherry and Maple, they offer the customer a real alternative to the cheaper M.D.F cabinets, which tend to warp and sag after a period of time.

RTA cabinets are convenient because you can store them with ease until you are ready to assemble them. So you could have your entire new kitchen, ready and waiting for you, in your spare room, shed or garage. All you have to do is to pick up your screwdriver and start assembling.

When choosing the right kitchen cabinets, there is a wide variety to pick from, ranging from ultra modern kitchen cabinets to more antique looking farmhouse styles. So, whatever type of house you live in, you can guarantee that there is an rta cabinet to suit your needs.

With the invention of the internet, online shopping has become a phenomenon and savvy kitchen design companies selling RTA cabinets have cottoned on to this and now sell entirely on line. This is only good news for the customer! You see, online companies don't have to pay staff wages and the upkeep that a physical store incurs. Instead they can pass the money that they are saving via a discount, straight on to the customer. Okay so now we have covered the merits of RTA cabinets, the bottom line is this...... If you are prepared to put in a little time and effort searching for what you want, and are prepared to put in a little more time assembling your new kitchen, then “ready to assemble” is certainly the best way to ensure that you will have that fantastic kitchen, at a cost that is far less than you ever thought possible.
