The latest technology in durable and affordable flooring has been Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT). Luxury vinyl tile has further evolved also be comprised with a core which acts as a backbone to the different layers of the flooring. This core, also known as "Rigid Core," makes the flooring waterproof, amplifies the durability, and strengthens the overall structure of the floor. With this added structure in place, it allows for a defined "Click" system to easily interlock the floors.
The first generation of this added Rigid Core has also been known as WPC Flooring, or Wood Plastic Composite. This is referring to the backbone structure which is comprised of wood fibers and polymers (plastics) to create a composite material. Continuing to evolve, the latest Rigid Core is SPC Flooring, or Stone Plastic Composite. Instead of unstable recycled wood products, SPC is comprised of limestone. This makes the product much more dense, durable, and stable.
Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) has been the hot flooring in construction the past couple years. With the advancements of 3D printing technology, a thin piece of PVC (poly vinyl chloride) vinyl can have a film attached to it making the floors look beautiful. These temporary floors became very popular in multi-family and institutional properties. To create a more permanent, waterproof, and durable product, a core was added to the LVT to essentially create a backbone for more stability. Different manufactures have used various materials to create this backbone but the term that has stood above the rest has been WPC Flooring. Standing for Wood Plastic Composite, the core is comprised of wood fibers and polymers (plastics) to create a composite material. The latest technology has now evolved into SPC Flooring, or Stone Plastic Composite. Instead of unstable recycled wood products, SPC is comprised of limestone. This makes the product much more dense, durable, and stable.
